Welcome to my Mommy Matters Monday link-up. I have two rules (and they are really easy to follow). 1. Your blog post must be mom related (which, if you are a mom could be just about anything!). 2. Try to visit others. We all love having people visit our blogs. If your a dad, join the fun too (I would have named the link up Parent Matters Monday, but it just doesn’t have the same ring does it?). The link-up will stay open from Monday until Friday, so you have all week to join up.
Is it just me, or did the last week go by quickly?
This weeks topic for Mommy Talk Tuesday is Breastfeeding. I figured I might as well combine my Mommy Matters Monday and Mommy Talk Tuesday post. Be sure to check out Mommy Talk Tuesday link-up tomorrow!
On to the topic… It is kind a big topic and you can go in many different directions with it. For me personally it is a topic I tend to avoid talking about. Breastfeeding has become such a hot topic these days and I just don’t understand why. All the controversy surrounding it just seems like a big waste of time.
Maybe this is because I live in a country where breastfeeding is just the normal thing to do. It is what you do. You are introduced to the benefits of it in a non-judgmental way by your midwife during pregnancy. You are given information to take home about it. But it is never pushed on you. It is encouraged yes, but never ever pushed. Also no one really cares if you breastfeed or not. Also no one cares if you breastfeed in public or not. Seeing a boob just a non-issue here.
So I just don’t get the what the big deal is. I don’t see why it has to be a such in-your-face issue. I believe that if people wish to normalize breastfeeding, then she should start acting normal about it and just do it. Stop creating so much hype, tension and so emotion of a normal thing. But that is my little bit (I know it is much more complicated than this, but just don’t want to spend the energy on it) on breastfeeding in general.
As for how it affects me personally. Well I breastfed both my children, or I should say attempted it. With my daughter I made it 6 weeks, with my son, I went 6 months before going over to formula. I personally think breast milk is the best thing for your child. I do not think formula is poison. I will try breast feeding again. You see, I am a bit nervous about it. I am not a good milk producer. It isn’t so much about quantity, but more about quality. Both my children, at different ages, stopped growing on breast milk. I think it had a lot of stress. Either way, I have some personal issues with it. But that won’t stop me. I will try it again. 3rd time is a charm right?
Either way, look at them. They are perfect!

I have been so busy lately, I have not had a chance to take many pictures. And I miss it! This weekend I managed to snap a couple. I just loved the color of these flowers against the fence behind them:
I hope the weather becomes nice again so I can get out to take some more pictures!
